The event is hosted by NS Promos, organizers of other well-known events in the area including the MB Jeep Jam and Independence Day 5K. Strollers, In only its second year, the Brookgreen Gardens Labor Day 5K is a relatively new Myrtle Beach fall event. For those unfamiliar, “bog” is short for chicken bog, a traditional South Carolina dish featuring rice slow-cooked with chicken, chicken stock, sausage, and spices. Some refer to this dish as chicken perlo, but no matter what you call it, the classic dish is a favorite among natives, locals, and visitors. As you might imagine, the festival celebrates this special Carolina dish as area restaurants put their unique twist on the original recipe. The bog-off will feature a cooking competition, kids’ games, and events, a car show, and local craft vendors.
