2nd Annual Brookgreen Gardens Labor Day 5K | Brookgreen Gardens | September 4th

Start a new Labor Day tradition at the first-ever Brookgreen Gardens Labor Day 5K on September 5th. The event is hosted by NS Promos, organizers of other well-known events in the area including the MB Jeep Jam and Independence Day 5K. Strollers, In only its second year, the Brookgreen Gardens Labor Day 5K is a relatively new Myrtle Beach fall event. This year marks the 47th anniversary of the annual Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival—a top Myrtle Beach fall event! Local and regional artists representing various genres will be present. A seemingly odd pair, Ireland and Italy, unite once a year for this annual match made in culinary heaven. Indulge in tasty traditional fare from both countries, like handmade meatballs, pasta dishes, antipasto, shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, and plenty of desserts. The afternoon will also include two live entertainment stages, a spaghetti eating contest, kids’ games, and activities, arts and crafts vendors, and roaming street entertainers. Take the short drive to Surfside Beach for the 2nd Annual Celebrate Surfside Beach Festival on September 24th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is slated to have fun for the whole family with live entertainment, a dunking booth, food trucks, kids’ activities, and more. This year’s charity recipient is The South Strand Helping Hands, an organization that provides emergency aid to individuals and families in need. Admission is FREE for all. This Myrtle Beach festival celebrates the legacies of African and Taíno cultures and recognizes the revitalization of the historical Broadway Street during Fall Jerk Fest. Join the crowd in the heart of Myrtle Beach for flavorful jerk-style cuisine and learn about local businesses in this historic area. Festival admission is FREE, but the Wine Walk sampling tickets are $20 for those ages 21 and up who would like to participate. 43rd Annual Loris Bog-Off Festival | Main Street, Downtown Loris | October 16th

For those unfamiliar, “bog” is short for chicken bog, a traditional South Carolina dish featuring rice slow-cooked with chicken, chicken stock, sausage, and spices. Some refer to this dish as chicken perlo, but no matter what you call it, the classic dish is a favorite among natives, locals, and visitors. As you might imagine, the festival celebrates this special Carolina dish as area restaurants put their unique twist on the original recipe. The bog-off will feature a cooking competition, kids’ games, and events, a car show, and local craft vendors. The fun kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and continues until 9:00 p.m. This festival is FREE to attend and takes place approximately 30 miles northwest of Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort.

38th Annual Taste of the Town | Myrtle Beach Convention Center | October 18th

Taste of the Town is an annual affair adored by many visitors and locals alike — and it’s not hard to see why! The Myrtle Beach Convention Center hosts this mouthwatering event featuring more than 30 of the area’s top restaurants, all serving up their finest tapas-style fare. The entrance fee is $6 at the door and kids age 14 and under are FREE. Attendees will also enjoy live entertainment, family games, and activities, and a silent auction to benefit St. Andrew Catholic School. Jump in your Jeep and head to the beach for the 5th Annual MB Jeep Jam. This 3-day Myrtle Beach fall event is filled with fun and entertainment including an off-road obstacle course, kids’ zone, live entertainment, food trucks, scavenger hunts, raffles, and more. Sign up your Jeep online or simply enjoy the event as a spectator for FREE. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Special Operations Wounded Warriors Foundation. Brew at the Zoo kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and provides guests with more than 30 regional craft beers to sample while they peruse the Lowcountry Zoo exhibits.
