Yo-ho, mateys! Sail down to Murrells Inlet for a seaworthy lunch or dinner at Drunken Jack’s Restaurant and Lounge.
Located at 4031 US Hwy 17, this South Strand staple got its name from a piece of pirate lore: After unloading his supply of stolen rum on a small island near Murrells Inlet and enjoying a wild night, the pirate Blackbeard left a crewman named Jack behind as he nursed a hangover. It took two years for the crew to circle back to the island, where they found 32 empty casks of rum and the sun-bleached bones of Drunken Jack.
Come enjoy the fresh, fine fare year-round while enjoying the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk. Start your meal off with something scrumptious, such as the the Stuffed Shrimp, the Drunken Jack’s Sampler or the Seared Sesame Encrusted Tuna. Appetizers run from around $6.25 to $12.95.
Planning a lunchtime visit? You’ve got great salads, sandwiches and entrees ahead of you. Grab lunch from DJ’s Abundant Salad Bar or enjoy the Glazed Salmon Salad. Try out one of the restaurant’s famous Flounder, Tilapia, Shrimp, Soft Shell Crab or Oscar Po Boys. If you’re extra hungry, give the Catch of the Day or Jack’s Favorite Combo a shot. You can also treat your little ones under 12 to lunch, where they can snack on flounder, oysters, creek shrimp, cheeseburgers or chicken strips. The lunch menu prices range from about $3.50 to $19.95.
Dinner starts at 4 p.m. each night, so make room for a seafood supper.
